Why We Write From Ground Level

A notebook, not a catalogue

Grove Brick Meadw began as a literal notebook kept by walkers who were tired of outdoor clothing coverage that only made sense on a glacier. We noticed that the clothes people actually wear outdoors are chosen for dog walks, commutes with a park shortcut, weekend loops and the occasional bigger day out.

So we write about those routes. We describe how a jacket behaves after its fortieth wet morning, how a pair of trousers handles a stile, how a jumper looks after a winter of brambles.

How we work

We write from repeated observation on ordinary terrain and from published information by makers and textile organisations. We do not run laboratory tests, award scores or verify certifications. When a maker makes a claim, we report it as their claim.

What we stay away from

We are not affiliated with any outdoor clothing brand or retailer, and we do not accept payment for coverage. We avoid presenting style guidance as safety advice. For mountain safety, we point readers to official organisations.
